Salary Cap and Luxury Tax
$1 million ($1M) = $1,000
Owners will pay $1 per $1,000 spent in salary cap with a minimum payment of $125
Soft Cap: $125,000
Luxury Tax Apron: $150,000
Hard Cap: $150,000+
Payment for under Tax Apron is $1 per $1,000 (minimum payment of $125)
Above the Luxury Tax Apron pays out as follows:
Non-Repeat Offenders:
$1,000-$4,999 over: $1.50 per $1,000 ($7.50 total)
$5,000-$9,999 over: $1.75 per $1,000 ($8.75 total)
$10,000-$14,999 over: $2.50 per $1,000 ($12.50 total)
$15,000-$19,999 over: $3.25 per $1,000 ($16.25 total)
$20,000+ $3.75 per $1,000 + an extra $.50 for each additional $5,000
Repeat Offenders:
$1,000-$4,999 over: $2.50 per $1,000 ($12.50 total)
$5,000-$9,999 over: $2.75 per $1,000 ($13.75 total)
$10,000-$14,999 over: $3.50 per $1,000 ($17.50 total)
$15,000-$19,999 over: $4.25 per $1,000 ($21.25 total)
$20,000+ $4.75 per $1,000 + an extra $.50 for each additional $5,000
Example 1: Team A has a salary of $150,000, so their buy-in is $150 ($125 to cap payout and $25 for luxury tax payout)
Example 2: Team B has a salary of $160,000 and is a non-repeat offender, so their buy-in is $166.25 ($125 to cap payout and $41.25 for luxury tax payout)
Example 3: Team C has a salary of $170,000 and is a repeat offender, so their buy-in is $215 ($125 to cap payout and $90 for luxury tax payout)
